Hi Kay. Wow, someone did a lot of work to make that path. Do they want you to stay on the paths on the canyon trail? We have paths here in the state parks also to try to keep people from danger. Signs everywhere saying Danger stay on the paths but some just will not listen. We have people falling off of cliffs and rocks all the time.Someone just fell yesterday. They want to keep everything natural looking, undisturbed, and the plants are protected. It would be a shame to have to fence people in on the paths. Well it probably wouldn't stop some of them anyway.
Yes, they want people to stay on the trails so they do not get hurt or lost. This is just at the "trailhead". They don't outline the trail with rocks all the way into the canyon.

The footprints in the trail make me think that it is very popular. It certainly looks well-maintained.
